Needs Assessment Survey

The OCME collaborates with the AHSC and community faculty, as well as renowned state, national and international educators to disseminate significant information related to patient care, professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, medical knowledge, practice-based learning and improvement, and systems-based practice, in primary and specialty patient care. This knowledge is delivered primarily to a target audience of physicians, but the needs of other health care professionals and students are considered. The specific characteristics of participants are identified through the needs assessment and addressed in the educational design of each activity which include traditional and innovative educational methods, such as live conferences (including teleconferences and audioconferences), grand rounds, mini-residency programs, enduring materials and internet education.

Physicians, other health care professionals, graduate and undergraduate students will as a result of the CME program:

  • Evidence a desire for lifelong independent learning and scholarship.
  • Identify significant faculty contributions of medical knowledge based on research.
  • Indicate increased knowledge leading to improved patient care outcomes

ACCME’s definition of CME describes what content is acceptable for activities that are certified for credit:

Continuing medical education consists of educational activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession. The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public.
